Mature Clove Cheese

Friese nagelkaas is one of the oldest cheese varieties in the Netherlands, and this mature version honors that tradition to the fullest. The cheese is made in the distinctive kanter shape and enriched with ground cloves, giving it a surprisingly warm and lightly sweet flavor profile. The mature aging adds nutty depth to the mix.

The combination of the aromatic, almost medicinal warmth of cloves with the full-bodied cheese base is unique in the Dutch cheese world. The texture is firm and easy to slice, typical of a Friese kanterkaas. This is a cheese with history: nagelkaas has been made in Friesland for centuries, originally to help preserve cheese for longer.
