Cheese In A Box started with a simple frustration: in the supermarket, cheese is weeks old, thick in plastic, with no story. That can be better. We work with over 120 cheeses from North Holland, North Brabant, Stolwijk, Italy, France and Spain. Directly from cheese makers we know, not from a central warehouse.
Order something, and we cut it that day. Fresh from the knife, vacuum-sealed, with a sheet of cheese paper so your cheese stays good for weeks at home. In the Netherlands and Belgium we ship free from €40, outside we deliver to eleven European countries.
No subscriptions with fine print. No fake farm marketing. Instead, cheese makers with names, real milk, and someone on the other side of the email who knows what you taste.

How much cheese do I need per person?+
For snacks count 75 to 100 grams per person, spread across three or four types. For a cheese course as main dish aim for 150 to 200 grams. Better too much than too little; vacuum-sealed cheese keeps well in the fridge for weeks.
How long does your cheese keep?+
Vacuum-sealed in the fridge, hard cheese keeps three to four weeks, soft cheese about two weeks. Once opened, wrap your cheese in the included cheese paper. That lets it breathe without drying out.
Do you ship outside the Netherlands?+
Yes. We ship to Belgium, Germany, France, Austria, Spain, Italy, Denmark, Luxembourg, Poland, Czech Republic and Sweden. Shipping is free in the Netherlands and Belgium from €40, other countries have cost-based rates.
Can I order a cheese tasting?+
Absolutely. Our Connoisseur Cheese Box is made for exactly that: four surprising cheeses each month, with a cheese story. You can also put together your own package from the selection and add nuts, mustard or wine for example.
Do you deliver sliced cheese?+
All cheese is freshly cut on the day of shipping, no earlier. You choose the weight; we cut a wedge as close as possible to your choice. No pre-sliced factory cheese.
What if my cheese arrives damaged?+
We'll sort it out. We pack with insulation and cooling elements, but if something goes wrong in transit, send us a photo at info@cheeseinabox.nl. We'll send a new box or refund you. 100% freshness guarantee, no fine print.

Cheese from the farmer
Short chain, real taste
Our Dutch cheeses come from farmers we know by name. The Van Wijk family from Stolwijk has made farmhouse cheese on their own farm for four generations, with milk from their Holstein cows grazing in the polder. Lutjewinkel1916 ages North Holland pasture cheese to intense maturity, with herbs from their own garden. The milk comes fresh from the tank, not from a central collection.
From abroad we work with cheese makers who take their craft just as seriously. Parmigiano from Modena from a consortium of five families. Brie from an affineur in the Marne who still turns his cheeses by hand. Manchego from a cooperative in Castile-La Mancha with sheep grazing on open grasslands.
We select, you taste. Our cheese master travels to the makers himself, tastes on-site and chooses what's good enough to put in our box. No algorithm involved. Only taste.
