About this cheese
Passendale is one of Belgium's best-known cheeses, named after the small West Flemish village of Passendale. It's instantly recognizable by its distinctive bread-loaf shape with a rounded top and its creamy, pale yellow color. The flavor is mild, creamy and wonderfully approachable, with a soft, buttery undertone.
The texture is supple and semi-soft, with small irregular holes that give the cheese an artisanal look. Passendale is the ultimate sandwich cheese: mild enough for everyday use, yet with just enough character to keep things interesting. In Belgium, it's a true classic you'll find in almost every refrigerator.
Pairs well with: a Belgian witbier, a light lager or a glass of apple juice. Perfect on bread, in a croque monsieur, or as a mild cheese on a charcuterie and cheese board. Combine it with the Chimay Poteaupre for a Belgian duo, or with the Antwerps Pikantje for something with more kick.
