Passendale
Passendale is a mild, semi-hard cheese from Belgium, named after the small village of Passendale in West Flanders. It combines the creaminess of an abbey cheese with a subtly nutty flavor and a lightly smooth texture. The paste is dotted with small holes, and the rind is edible, light brown, and dry. Passendale is often described as a “family cheese,” approachable, familiar, and great on a sandwich, but also surprisingly good on a cheese board. Varieties include Classic, Light, and Caractère, each with its own distinct character.
