Eyssen cumin block cheese

De Eyssen Blokkaas Komijn is a semi-mature Goudse cheese made from cow’s milk, semi-firm in texture and packed with whole cumin seeds. Those seeds give the cheese its recognizable spiced, lightly anise-like note, with a creamy, lightly salted flavor underneath. The texture is firm yet supple, with a satisfying bite every time you hit a cumin seed. It slices cleanly and compactly, making it a handy choice for sandwiches or crackers.

Take the cheese out of the fridge about half an hour before serving. At room temperature, the spiced and nutty flavors really open up. A nostalgic Dutch classic that feels just as at home on a charcuterie and cheese board as it does at lunch.
